The inactivation of invertase by tyrosinase. II. The influence of copper and gold on the oxidation of invertase and pepsin.

چکیده
Previous studies from this laboratory have demonstrated the oxidation of certain proteins by tyrosinase (1, 2) and the inactivation of invertase by tyrosinase (3, 4). Different tyrosinase preparations vary greatly in their ability to inactivate invertase; in particular, certain dialyzed or very highly purified tyrosinase solutions seem to have lost their ability to oxidize invertase. In Paper I of this series (4), it was emphasized previously that small amounts of a phenolic activator, e.g. catechol or tyramine, might play a critical rale in the inactivation of invertase and other proteins by tyrosinase. In the present study, the possible r&e of metal ions as activators for the oxidation of invertase and pepsin has been studied.

In vitro carbohydrate stress: salicylic acid increases soluble invertase activity in Pistacia vera L. in vitro plantlets. Françoise Bernard *, Majid Baghai and Shirin Hadad Kaveh
The action of salicylic acid (SA) has been well investigated in plant resistance against pathogen attacks but its role may be extended to a more global anti-stress plant cell strategy. The expression of defense-related functions may be also enhanced by elevated hexose levels. To verify if there exists a relation between these two defense programs, SA effect on soluble acid invertase (EC 3.2.1.2...
متن کاملDate Wastes as Substrate for the Production of a-Amylase and Invertase
Background: In Algeria the date wastes production is estimated at least 85.000 tones. Date wastes is an economic source of carbohydrates for conversion to industrial enzymes because it is readily available and relatively low priced. Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the potential of using date wastes as a substrate for the production of a-amylase and invertase. Materia...
متن کاملThe Influence of Proteins on the Reactivation of Yeast Invertase
1. Acid-inactivated yeast invertase could not be regenerated in the presence of the proteolytic enzymes trypsin, pepsin, and chymotrypsin. 2. Certain foreign proteins of non-enzymatic nature partially inhibited the reactivation of acid-inactivated invertase. 3. Certain proteins as gelatin, lacto-globulin, and carbohydrate-free horse crystalbumin did not prevent the reactivation of invertase at ...
متن کاملGlucose Influence on Copper Ion-Dependent Oxidation of Low Density Lipoprotein
Background: It is well established that oxidative modification of low density lipoprotein (LDL) plays a causal role in human atherogenesis and the risk of atherosclerosis is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus. We examined the in vitro effect of glucose on native and glycated LDL oxidation using copper ion dependent oxidation system. Methods: In this study, LDL was isolated from plasma...
متن کاملThe Activity of Yeast Invertase as a Function of Oxidation-reduction Potential
The activity of yeast invertase as a function of oxidation-reduction potential has been investigated using a large number of oxidants and reductants. The activity is constant over the range of E(h) from -270 to +600 mv., but above E(h) = +600 mv. there is a sharp decrease in activity reaching 0 at E(h) = +1,000 mv. The inhibiting action of strong oxidants is upon the enzyme rather than on the s...
